Pooja Gautami Umashankar’s mother is a Sri Lankan Sinhalese and her father is Kannadiga. The languages she can speak are Sinhalese, Tamil, Kannada and English. She went to school and college in Bangalore, Baldwin's and Mount Carmel College respectively.
